Importance of CQI-11 assessment
Plating System Assessment (CQI-11) is developed with the intent to help better evaluate the quality systems in place at plating shops supplying OEM automotive coatings such as zinc and zinc alloy electrodeposit, decorative plating applied to metal or plastic substrates, and hard chromium deposits, as well as electroless nickel and electropolishing processes. The objective of the assessment is to improve processes, improve management engagement and risk management and enhance document clarity. CQI-11 Assessment is a self-assessment of the plating system and must be carried out at least once a year.
This standard is an appendix to IATF 16949 under “customer-specific requirements“ and is valid for all automotive suppliers globally that have entered into a contractual agreement regarding purchasing, supply, and quality throughout the supply chain.
